The Lents International Farmers Market happens every Sunday from mid-June to mid-October at the corner of SE Foster and 92nd. Its vendors provide local produce and international foods for the residents of one of Portland's most diverse neighborhoods. It also includes a community table for neighbors to sell their own garden goods.
On Sunday, September 28th, Ben has "adopted" the Lents International Farmers Market. This means that he will not only volunteer all day at the market himself, but he will also recruit friends and neighbors to fill the shifts listed below. Please join him for a couple hours on this early fall day to show your support for local farmers and the Lents International Farmers Market. Take a look at the list below and give Christy a call at 503-236-3351 if you are interested in taking part. Thanks!
Set Up (3-5 people 7:30-9:00)
Set up volunteers arrive at 7:30am to set up tables, tents, and chairs for Information Table, Community Table, Music and Chef Demonstration Area, Kids Area, promotional signs, and parking signs. Some lifting involved.
Community Table (morning shift 9:00-11:30, afternoon shift 11:30-2:00)
The Community Table is where people can bring their home-grown produce to sell at the market. In some cases, those selling at the Community Table may be non-English speaking farmers (there will be volunteer translators on-site). Community Table volunteers will organize the display and sale of produce and manage small cash box. Must be at least 18 years old.
Information Table/Greeter (morning shift 9:00-11:30, afternoon shift 11:30-2:00)
Volunteers at the Information Table answer questions about the market, recruit market volunteers, and oversee the children's table. Greeters will "float" around the market, estimate attendance, and provide assistance to market manager, shoppers, and vendors where needed.
Take Down (3-5 people 1:30-3:00)
Volunteers take down and store tables, tents, chairs, promotional signs, and parking signs. Some lifting involved.
